The Hitachi DH36DAL 36V SDS drill in detail

The only area that the Hitachi DH36DAL 36V can’t compete in is the recharging time of its Lithium ion batteries – but if that’s not a deal breaker for you, then you may want to take a closer look…

Drilling power

At 2.8 Joules of impact energy, the Hitachi DH36DAL is just a hair’s breadth behind the Bosch and Makita 36V SDS drills. As with those machines, this one has the same power as a 2kg corded model and will comfortably drill 26mm holes into concrete.

• 36V cordless SDS Plus hammer drill
• 2.8 Joules impact energy
• Max drilling capacity: (diameter) Concrete – 26mm, Metal – 13mm, Wood – 30mm
• No-load Speed 0-550/0-1100/min – fastest in its class
• Impact Rate 0-2250/4500/min

Anti-vibration

Sorry, we have not been able to source vibration stats for this drill from Hitachi

Drill weight and length

Nicely balanced, the Hitachi DH36DAL 36V Cordless weighs in at a 4.0kg – lighter than both the 36V Makita and Bosch equivalents – and has a compact design with a tidy length of 322mm.

Battery type and performance

Hitachi’s Lithium-Ion batteries may not have had the heavy promotion that the likes of DeWalt and Makita have given theirs, but the Hitachi Li-Ion batteries will still pack a real punch. The only drawback compared to the Bosch 36V models, for example, is the charging time. The Hitachi DH36DAL batteries take 80 minutes to fully recharge, while the Bosch GBH V-LI is charged to 80% after just 25 minutes. However the Hitachi drill does have a ‘Save Power’ mode, allowing you to get more mileage from each charge.
