The Bosch GBH 2-18 RE 110v has a special place in the heart of this reviewer – being the first SDS drill I ever bought. Since investing in this trusty little Bosch Blue over 5 years ago, it’s never let me down.

This corded SDS drill is ideal for a plumber or tiler who’s going to use it a couple of times a day to pop some screws or bolts into masonry or drill into wood or soft metal. It’s one of the lightest 110V SDS drills on the market which means it’s easy to use in tight spaces or overhead.

Drilling power

The GBH 2-18RE has a tough 550W motor which delivers a respectable 1.7 joules of impact energy.

• Impact rate at rated speed: 0 – 3960 rpm
• Rated speed: 450 – 1550 rpm
• This means a drilling diameter of 4-18mm in concrete using a SDS-plus flute drill bit. The maximum drilling diameter in steel (with drill chuck) is 13 mm and 30mm in wood.

Drill weight and length

At only 1.9 kilograms it weighs up to 25 percent less than competitor 2-kilogram SDS Plus drills. And with a length of just 316mm it is the smalled pistol-shaped SDS hammer drills available.
